Pistachio gelato at Coletta Gelato
Take a break on a sunny spring day to check out SF’s trendy new ice cream maker. In January, two friends who studied together at a famous gelato university in Italy (such a thing exists!) opened up shop in a former SoMa crêperie by a congested Bay Bridge entrance ramp. They rise above the competition by making their own dairy base, a rarity in San Francisco, to complement the other high-quality ingredients. An army-green scoop of California pistachio offers a natural, intensely nutty flavor with a bright, slightly salty finish. Since seating is limited, we recommend taking your cup or cone two blocks to the newly reopened South Park.
